Feb 8, 2010: Tamil Nadu Health Minister M R K Panneerselvam has said a total of over 70 lakh children were covered under the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) campaign was conducted across Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

In a press release, he said in Chennai alone around five lakh children were administered polio drops. “The drive also covered around 30,000 Sri Lankan refugee children in the State.’

The first phase was conducted on January 10. The Public Health department had made elaborate arrangements in co-ordination with other departments for conducting the second phase.
