Rs 4 cr worth jewels stolen
Feb 8, 2010: A hunt has been launched by the police to nab a robber gang who had allegedly broke into a pawn and jewellery shop and decamped away with gold and silver jewellery worth Rs four crore and cash at Karayanchavadi, near Poonamallee on Sunday.
According to reports, the shop is owned by Pasant Jain (50) and his son. After the father-son duo closed down the shutters Sunday night and left for home, burglars broke into the shop and decamped with jewellery and cash, it is said.
The incident came to light this morning, when the shop was opened. It is claimed that the burglars gained entry into the shop by putting a hole on the wall. The police have taken steps to nab the burglars.
