Feb 8, 2010: Chennai Mayor M Subramanian today said the presentation of the Corporation Budget will be on March 15 and the discussion on it on 17 March.

Inaugurating a free water purifier and distributor on the Marina Beach in Chennai, he said the focus of the budget this time will be on health and education.

He said the State government and the city civic body have appointed 67 personnel for maintenance of the beach and added: “This is the first time in the country that such purified water is provided to the public for free of cost.”

The water purifier was built by the Lions Club of Chennai. Deputy Mayor Sathyabama and other officials took part.
