Feb 9, 2010: Pandi alias ‘Dindigul’ Pandi, allegedly involved in many crimes, and his close aide Velu were shot dead in an encounter with the police at Neelankarai in Chennai on Monday.

According to reports, the city police got a tip off that Pandi and Velu were hiding at Panaiyur. When the police arrived there nab them, they attacked the team with country bombs and deadly weapons.

Following this, police opened fire at the duo. Pandi and Velu, who suffered bullet injuries, were rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared them dead.
