PMK men clash with police

March 9th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in News

Mar 10, 2010: Six police personnel and eight PMK men were reportedly injured when the police resorted to lathi-charge on the PMK workers when they gathered at the Indur checkpost in Pennagaram constituency to protest against the stopping of the vehicles of PMK leaders for checking.

According to police, they were attacked by the PMK workers when they tried to protect Dharmapuri Tahsildhar Ramadurai Murugan while he was talking to PMK leaders. As a result, they had no other option than a lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

However, former Union Minister and PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss said the police stopped his car to create a problem and spared three cars of State Ministers without any security checks.

“Several PMK workers were injured in the unprovoked police action. One of the local functionaries of our party received 17 sutures on the head after being hit by a police lathi,” Anbumani alleged.
