Mar 10, 2010: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for extending support for the smooth passage of Women’s Reservation Bill.

According to an official release, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude when DMK Parliamentary leader T R Baalu personally thanked him today on behalf of Karunanidhi for the Bill that was passed in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

Karunanidhi on Tuesday expressed happiness over the Women’s Reservation Bill that was passed in Rajya Sabha. Congratulating Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the Chief Minister in a statement said: “A new chapter opens for the Indian Women’s empowerment and a new way opens for flourishing true democracy in India.”
