A criminal intimidation case was registered against PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss at Olakkur Police Station in Villuppuram district.

Tension gripped Tindivanam town after news spread that police have booked Ramadoss in a case of alleged assault on a college lecturer.

More than 100 PMK cadres, led by Gingee MLA A Ganesh Kumar, attempted to picket the DSP’s office demanding that the police stop action against the PMK leader and others. Senior police officers assured the PMK cadres that they would conduct fair investigation into the allegations.

The district police have registered a criminal case against Ramadoss and two others following a complaint by an assistant professor of the Saraswathiammal Arts and Science College, run by the Vanniyar Educational Trust with which the PMK leader is said to be closely associated.

In his complaint, the Professor said he was attacked  by College Director Harinarayanan and watchman Venkatesan after he refused to resign and alleged that the attack  on him was done at the behest of Ramadoss.

Mayakrishnan suffered injuries in the attack and was
being treated at a hospital in Villuppuram.

Acting on the complaint, cases under various sections of the IPC, including 294 (b), 323 and 506 (2), were  registered against Ramadoss.
