Superstar Rajinikanth today filed a petition in the Madras High Court, distancing himself from his in-law Kasthuriraja and categorically stated that he cannot be held responsible for the latter’s borrowal of Rs 65 lakh from financier S Mukanchand Bothra of Sowcarpet.
Bothra, in his petition, submitted that he had paid 65 lakh in two installments to Kasthooriraja, but his cheques for the sum had been returned for want of funds. The cases filed against him for dishonoured cheques are pending before a magistrate court in George Town, he said.
Bothra claimed that Rajinikanth knew that Kasthooriraja had ‘misused’ his name while borrowing the amount, but had not acted against him.
Believing Kasthuriraja’s promise alone that Rajinikanth would repay the loan even if he (Kasthuriraja) doesn’t, he had given the loan, Bothra claimed. Citing this, Bothra sought permission to implead himself as a party in Rajini’s suit.
