Following private milk companies’ decision to reduce the price, milk agents in Tamil Nadu have demanded the State-owned Aavin to cut down rates to benefit the public.
The new price of Arokya milk came into effect from Tuesday. According to private producers, one of the main reasons behind slashing milk prices is the falling demand for their brands.
Tamil Nadu Milk Agents Association president Ponnusamy said, “The price reduction by private players is just an eyewash as rates can be cut down by up to Rs eight per litre, as per the current market conditions.”
Ponnusamy said Aavin should also reduce the price by 8 per litre and reduce the burden on the common man.
